The 2026/27 season officially began for FlaBasquete this Monday (3). The red-black team returned to Gávea for the first day of activities, which included training on the court and work in the gym, marking the start of preparation for the challenges of the second half of the year.
The team's return to training brought together familiar faces and significant reinforcements. Among the new additions are point guard Yago Mateus and shooting guard Didi Louzada, both returning to Brazil after stints in international basketball and recently called up to the Brazilian National Team. Yago returns after playing in Italy, while Didi was in Japan.
Another addition who began working with the group is power forward Douglas Santos, signed after playing for São José last season. Argentine point guard Franco Baralle, who was already part of the roster, also participated normally in the team's return to training, as did center Ruan Miranda, who has recovered from a serious knee injury that kept him off the court for a long time.
Monday also marked the first training session for coach Demétrius Ferracciú in charge of FlaBasquete. After a stint with Paulistano, the coach officially began his work leading the red-and-black team.
Flamengo will face a season of great challenges, competing in the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) and the Liga Sul-Americana. The preparation that began this Monday will be the first step in building a strong team in pursuit of titles.
