Flamengo are champions of the 2026 Rio Cup Under-16! The Garotos do Ninho beat Fluminense 4-0 this Thursday (13), at Marcelo Vieira, in Xerém, and won the title of the competition. After losing the first leg 2-1, at Gávea, Rubro-Negro put on a great performance, scored four times and secured the cup.
This victory extends the team's winning streak this season. In March, Flamengo had already lifted the U-16 Recopa, also against Fluminense. In July, the team won the Copa Brasil Soccer Cup in Macaé, defeating Vasco in the final. Now, Flamengo celebrates another title against their rival, reaching their third trophy of the season.
The game
Flamengo started the match looking to overturn the advantage built by Fluminense in the first leg. Five minutes in, a Fluminense player was sent off, and Flamengo won a free kick in a dangerous position.
During the free kick, Flamengo won a corner. Seven minutes in, after the kick, Willian Felix, number 10, put the ball into the box and Marcos Pierre appeared to finish and open the scoring: 1-0 for Flamengo.
Flamengo maintained the pressure and managed to extend their lead before halftime. In the 42nd minute, Rhuan Souza took a shot, the goalkeeper made the save, but Cristian Araujo pounced on the rebound to put the ball into the back of the net: 2-0.
The second half began with Flamengo again looking to attack. In the 13th minute, after a ball recovery, the play advanced into the Fluminense penalty area. Samuel Júlio, number 4, received the ball on the left and crossed to his defensive partner Felipe Pina, number 3, who appeared to finish and extend Flamengo's lead: 3-0.
At 24 minutes, the play started inside with Kauã Lucas, known as Pavuna. The number 10 of the U-15 and 18 of the U-16 passed to Leonardo Gabriel, who crossed back. Kauã appeared again to finish the play and score for the beloved team: 4-0.
After building a large lead and controlling the match, Flamengo confirmed their 4-0 victory and won the 2026 Rio Cup U-16.
