Flamengo's undisputed idol, winger Marquinhos will complete this Saturday (17), his two hundredth game with the Sacred Mantle in matches valid for the NBB. The beautiful and victorious history of the number 11 at Rubro-Negro began in the 2012/13 season. Within these 199 games for FlaBasquete, we selected some remarkable moments to remember the brilliant history of the star wearing the colors of the Most Beloved in Brazil.
In his first year at FlaBasquete, Marquinhos won his first national title. Averaging 20.3 points per game, the forward put in a spectacular performance, becoming the tournament's MVP and top scorer with 803 points.
The third title wasn't long in coming. In NBB 7, Marquinhos was once again one of the stars of the tournament. Named the tournament's Best Winger, the star player lived up to expectations and, along with Nico Laprovittola, Marcelinho, and Meyinsse, brought another triumph to Mengão.
Last but not least, NBB 8. In a season with a renewed red-and-black squad, Marquinhos once again shone. Voted MVP of the championship, one of the idol's most memorable moments came before the final. In Game 4 of the semifinals, against Mogi das Cruzes, a memorable block on Larry Taylor, right in the middle of Hugão, in the final second of the match, gave Flamengo a second chance in the series and allowed them to turn the tide of winning their fifth NBB (the fourth for the number 11). A moment that lives in the memory of the Flamengo fans present in the gym and marked the history of Novo Basquete Brasil.
There are so many moments, plays, glories, baskets, and titles. Two hundred games isn't for everyone. Without a shadow of a doubt, he's one of the greatest. We can only say, two hundred times if necessary: thank you, Marquinhos!
