SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Learn a little more about Mengão's work in this area
Our work
The Social Responsibility and Citizenship area of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo was created in 2019 and aims to encourage the integral development of those who live in contexts of social vulnerability.
With approximately 42 million fans, Clube de Regatas do Flamengo is a cultural heritage of Brazil. More than a source of pride, the club's management and everyone involved see this as a commitment to supporting the construction of a more just and inclusive society, understanding that Flamengo is great on and off the field.
Through its priority Agenda and its Lines of Work, the CRF's Social Responsibility area works in favor of collective causes, to the detriment of individual welfare, supporting topics relevant to society, such as Education, Social Inclusion and Diversity, Quality of Life and Sustainable Use.
The CRF understands that social issues such as social exclusion and violence have their origins in social inequality. Therefore, positioning itself as a responsible club committed to the values of sport, the CRF seeks to leverage the strength of its brand, with international reach, to promote change in contexts of social vulnerability worldwide.
Flamengo's Social Responsibility uses the power of sport to motivate, educate, and inspire children, youth, adults, and families from socially vulnerable backgrounds. Education is a priority agenda and seeks to guarantee the right to learning for all.

LINES OF ACTION
The CRF's Social Responsibility strategy has Education as its Priority Agenda and has other three lines of action: Social Inclusion and Diversity; Conservation and Sustainable Use and Quality of Life.
EDUCATION
How it works
The CRF's Social Responsibility prioritizes education and seeks to support initiatives that contribute to quality education for all. It understands that improvements in education impact the reduction of violence rates and make the country more equitable and with better income distribution, as education is directly linked to economic and social development. Especially for children and young people in situations of social vulnerability, education represents an opportunity to reduce social inequalities and break the cycle of exclusion and poverty.
In this sense, beyond the State's role of having children and young people in school, there is the CRF's Social Responsibility commitment to supporting the Right to Learning, understood as any and all opportunities to know, explore, express, participate, play, interact, dialogue, question and reflect on themes and subjects that place children and young people as protagonists of their educational processes.
Through actions, initiatives, campaigns and projects, CRF's Social Responsibility seeks to support Education for children and young people, breaking the barrier of non-learning and combating social inequalities that imply citizenship formation, seeking, whenever possible, the involvement of the entire sports production chain, sponsors and supporters, public or private partners.
The Education Agenda projects seek to act, primarily, with children, young people, families and educators etêm as a purpose to contribute to social transformation, combining sports practice and socio-emotional education.
They are implemented based on a common methodological basis and aligned with the premises and policy of the Social Responsibility area.
Results of scientific research on socio-emotional learning and studies by authors in the fields of Psychology and Pedagogy guide this common methodological basis, which is supported by fourpillars:
1 - Self-knowledge;
2 - Autorrregulation of emotions;
3 - Practice empathy;
4 - Practice social skills for healthier relationships within a systemic vision.
Social-emotional learning is what complements academic experience and sports practice. This combination constitutes comprehensive education. Currently,,There are hundreds of social-emotional learning programs in thousands of schools and educational settings around the world. Education Agenda projects recognize the potential of teaching and practicing these skills and competencies and, to that end,êsocio-emotional education as a premise.
Projects:
WE WILL PLAY TOGETHER
With its own methodology, JOGAREMOS JUNTOS is an educational project through sports, based on socio-emotional skills. Through it, children and young people have the opportunity to develop self-awareness, resilience, empathy, focus, and other skills they learn through sports and apply to face and overcome life's challenges, whether at school, with family, or with friends.
In total, the project serves 800 children in six communities in Rio de Janeiro—Cantagalo Pavão, Pavãozinho, Complexo do Alemão, Vila Aliança, Morro do Banco, Santa Cruz, and Queimados—with soccer, judo, basketball, artistic gymnastics, and volleyball lessons. The project is supported by the Federal Sports Incentive Law and is sponsored by Shell.
FUTURE OF THE NATION
With education as its main focus, FUTURO DA NAÇÃO is a writing competition held between public schools and social projects. In this competition, elementary and high school students are invited to write essays on a variety of topics, such as "Female Empowerment," "Confronting Racism," "Sports Values," and "Life Perspectives." The six best essays receive prizes, and the entire class participating in the competition receives a guided tour of the Maracanã stadium with the Flamengo Museum's Education Department.
The objectives of FUTURE OF THE NATION include:
Develop writing skills
Stimulate critical thinking
Foster social engagement
Increase self-esteem and confidence
Strengthen the school-community relationship
Encourage reading and knowledge
In two years, FUTURO DA NAÇÃO has already received more than 600 essays, having been implemented in 13 institutions, nine of which are public schools and five social projects.

In 2024, the FUTURE OF THE NATION project gained an exhibition at the Flamengo Museum, where 23 excerpts from the champion frogs were displayed to the public. The exhibition was visited by participating schools throughout the project's two-year existence.
PERFECT PASS
Implemented in partnership with Futebol de Base, PASSE PERFEITO is a training program focused on educators working in community social projects. It teaches the "Race, Love, and Passion" methodology, directly impacting children and young people aged 6 to 15. All participating institutions receive donations of sports equipment (such as balls, cones, circuit ladders, whistles, etc.) and sportswear (such as shirts, shorts, pants, socks, etc.) to support their classroom routine.
Mediated by the Social Responsibility team, PASSE PERFEITO enables the creation of a support network formed by the social institutions participating in the training, in which educators have the opportunity to reflect, discuss and exchange experiences on topics common to all, such as inclusion through sports, combating violence, involvement of parents and guardians and new perspectives for young people from at-risk areas.
The project has already trained 216 educators, impacting more than 8.300 students.

COME READ, COME READ, COME READ!
A Social Responsibility initiative in partnership with the Flamengo Museum's Educational Department. Through the project, Flamengo visits community libraries and cultural facilities in peripheral areas, offering storytelling activities, quizzes, and book donations to children and adolescents. This initiative aims to awaken a love of reading, foster greater connection between children and books, and contribute to the transformation of community libraries into spaces for culture, learning, and leisure. Through VEM LER, VEM LER, VEM LER!, Flamengo fulfills its mission of fostering educational opportunities, promoting access to knowledge, and stimulating creativity, understanding that improvements in education impact the reduction of violence rates and contribute to a more just society by breaking cycles of exclusion and poverty.

BACK TO SCHOOL, NATION!
Aiming to combat school dropout, the "BACK TO SCHOOL, NATION!" initiative aims to distribute school supply kits to elementary, high school, and EJA (Youth and Adult Education) students in Rio de Janeiro's public schools. The school supply kit consists of a backpack, notebook, pens, pencils, eraser, sharpener, ruler, and cup. The goal of the initiative is to encourage students to stay in school, reinforcing that children and adolescents belong in school.

FLA COMMUNICATES
Understanding that Flamengo is also a leader in the fields of Marketing and Communication, FLA COMUNICA is a series of introductory workshops where young people aged 15 to 18 from social institutions learn the basics of photography, design, social media, press relations, video production and editing, journalism and advertising concepts in the social field, among other topics. The goal is to amplify voices and inspire new professional paths, as well as promote communication for social change. Facilitated by the Social Responsibility team, the workshops are led by Communications professionals from the club and contracted agencies.

SOCIAL INCLUSION AND DIVERSITY
How it works
This line of work involves opening spaces and channels that recognize identities, cultures, ethnicities, beliefs, and genders, as diversity constitutes an important step towards human dignity.
The definition of Social Inclusion as a Work Line of the CRF's Social Responsibility Policy is established by understanding that diversity cannot be an obstacle, but rather a bridge to safer communities, by generating social development and important learning for individuals.
Recognizing diversity and considering the existence of others, in their singularities, means admitting that there are other perspectives beyond the dominant standard. Inclusion, therefore, arises from interaction, and it is through the quality of relationships that it is strengthened, expanding the possibilities for cooperation, resolving conflicts, and eradicating intolerance. It supports actions, initiatives, projects, and campaigns that aim to raise awareness, discuss, and contribute to respect for diversity, promoting the practice of sports in vulnerable contexts, as well as the appreciation of different identities, cultures, knowledge, ethnicities, beliefs, and genders.
Actions and Projects:
NATION AT MARACA
The NAÇÃO NO MARACA initiative aims to provide space at Flamengo games to partner projects and institutions that work with socially vulnerable groups, understanding that a Flamengo game is much more than a sporting event: it is a cultural spectacle, a source of intense socialization, capable of promoting inclusion and moments of access to leisure. In addition to soccer matches, the initiative also takes place in other sports.,like volleyball and basketball.
In 2024, the NAÇÃO NO MARACA action reached the 25 mark kPeople from socially vulnerable backgrounds attending Flamengo games at Maracanã. This initiative has already brought indigenous people, homeless people, refugees, people in conflict with the law, people with disabilities, people sheltered in social institutions, and many other groups, sometimes invisible to society, to Flamengo matches. They have had the chance to experience the passion for Flamengo and see the transformative impact that sport can have on people's lives, reinforcing the social role of clubs beyond the pitch.

Maracanã Sensory Room
The sensory rooms at Maracanã are spaces specially adapted to accommodate people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) during sporting events at the stadium. Developed with acoustic insulation, special lighting, and sensory elements, each room can accommodate 16 people, in addition to two specialized professionals who provide assistance to the public. The rooms are located on the fifth floor of the West Sector of the stadium, one closer to the North Sector and the other to the South Sector, and represent a fundamental step in access to Maracanã, considering the different sensory needs of the public and promoting a more inclusive experience.
In Flamengo's home games, the two sensory rooms at Maracanã welcome people with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) plus one companion through the club's Social Responsibility Department. Those interested should send an email to responsabilidadesocial@flamengo.com.br, attaching the ASD diagnosis report as well as providing the name, date of birth, CPF (Brazilian tax identification number), and telephone number of the person with ASD and their companion.

FIGHTING RACISM
Under the leadership of diversity consultants and masters in Public Policy in Human Rights Ingrid DaviUnder Vitor Matos' leadership, a study group was organized, comprising employees from various departments of the club, such as Human Resources, Youth Soccer, Women's Soccer, and Olympic Sports. The initiative aims to disseminate knowledge and establish an active voice in promoting diversity and developing anti-racist education content, to be addressed as a priority agenda within Flamengo's Social Responsibility program.

Still on the agenda for Combating Racism, Flamengo's Social Responsibility Department hosted a debate featuring experts on the topic: Marcelo Carvalho, director of the Football Racial Observatory; Katiucha Watuze, director of the Pretaria Collective; and Letícia Gabriela, representative of the Anti-Racism Front of CUFA – Central Única das Favelas. The debate, moderated by host Emerson Santos, was broadcast on FlaTV and is available at the following link:
Campaign to Combat Period Poverty
According to the study "Menstrual Poverty in Brazil: Inequality and Rights Violations," conducted in May 2021 by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), 713 girls live without access to a bathroom or shower at home. And more than four million lack access to basic menstrual care items in schools. One of the main problems caused by menstrual poverty is school dropout. It is estimated that one in five young girls misses school due to a lack of sanitary pads.
With this in mind, Flamengo and Social Responsibility launched a campaign in March 22 to combat menstrual poverty, collecting disposable sanitary pads throughout the month of March. The intimate hygiene products were donated to the NGOs Absorbendo Amor and Associação Recomeçar, which work with socially vulnerable populations.

How it works

As an environmental education project, Pé de Gol's initiatives involve students and teachers from public schools and social projects.

LIFE QUALITY
How it works
Far beyond physical health, the understanding of Quality of Life encompasses the balance of an individual's psychological and emotional states to achieve health and well-being. In this context, this line of work seeks to promote and support actions, campaigns, projects, and initiatives that encourage well-being, self-care, health, physical activity, and disease prevention among internal and external audiences.
