Flamengo's men's basketball team trained this Friday morning (September 03.09rd) at Marina Barra Clube, for the first time with a nearly full squad. The only absence was shooting guard Marcelinho, who is competing in the World Cup in Turkey with the Brazilian national team. Led by coach Paulo Chupeta, the team has been preparing for six weeks for its upcoming challenges: the State Championship, the South American League, and the NBB (New Basketball Brazil).

Starting next week, the five-time state champion and Brazilian runner-up will train at the HSBC Arena in Barra. Flamengo, however, will have three absences: centers Jefferson and Wagner and point guard Fred. They travel this Saturday (March 4th) to South Korea, where they will compete in the Military Basketball World Cup, from September 10th to 17th. All three will be back in time for Flamengo's debut in the State Championship on the 24th, against Iguaçu, at the Municipal Championship.

"It will be a great experience and excellent preparation, as it's a high-level international tournament with very strong teams. Many players who didn't make it to the World Cup in Turkey will be competing in the Military World Cup," said center Jefferson.
