Before revisiting the Nation, FlaBasquete has its second NBB game away from home against an old rival
The team faces Brasília, the team they defeated in their first title, in 2009.

A victory in the opening match, but the result is already in the past. In basketball, it's literally one day after the next, and the Pride of the Nation is already focused on the second matchup in the New Basketball Brazil. This Monday, Gustavo De Conti's team will face Brasília Basquete at 20 p.m. at the Nilson Nelson gymnasium in the federal capital.
It will be the final match before the rematch with the Nação Rubro-Negra, on Wednesday, in Rio de Janeiro. And a victory would be essential to wrap up two victories at the beginning of the competition, where the teams are still getting to know each other. PThe ten-time NBB champion, FlaBasquete, is seeking its sixth title. The all-time record holder, the team lifted the trophy in the 2008-09, 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15, and 2015-16 seasons.
Flamengo x Brasilia
Having left the NBB in 2017-18, Brasília returns to the competition with a different identity, but representing the same city and with all the tradition behind it. A new brand, a new team, but the history of the Mais Querido's clash with the capital's representative is full of rivalry and poise.
In qualifying matches, the teams met 18 times, with each team winning nine. In the playoffs, they met 10 times, with the same scoreline—five wins each. Last season, there were no matches.
The fifth basketball title began precisely against the Brasília team. In 2009, Mengão won the first NBB title, defeating their rivals 3-2 in the final series. In the final game, at Arena da Barra, they won 76-68 in front of over 15 Flamengo fans. Led by Marcelinho, who scored 27 points in the final, Flamengo began its journey as the greatest champion of the New Basketball Brazil.

The point guard gave his testimony about Monday's opponent.
"First, the level of the championship is clear, as Vasco went to Brasília and won at home in a very balanced game. Another point we can see, especially at the beginning of the championship, is the teams getting to know each other and getting to know each other, hence the importance of these first games, as they can provide a very important foundation later on.
And Brasília certainly knows this. We can expect a very tough game because they want to get their first win in a new project, which is very important right now. But Flamengo is very well prepared and improving; with each passing day and game, their chemistry improves, and we're going all out in search of this victory."
The coach's analysis
Gustavo De Conti also spoke about the round's opponent.
"The Brasília team is returning now, and it's very good for the sport. It's a traditional team, from a city that loves basketball and also has many Flamengo fans. Whenever the club comes here, it's very well received.
Brasília was built with experienced and successful players. High-quality Brazilians and foreigners, with impressive track records at their clubs and national teams. The team will gel throughout the season and will certainly fight for the top spots. We expect a very tough match, as they lost their first leg and want to win at home."
