After a training period, Fla returns to the court with its sights set on leading the NBB

After 11 days without games, Flamengo returns to the court this Friday (11.03) for the NBB (Novo Basquete Brasil). The team faces Joinville, at 19 pm, at Ginásio Ivan Rodrigues, in Joinville (SC), for the ninth round of the competition's return. The match will be broadcast on the SPORTV channel.
The team took advantage of the NBB break to improve training under Argentine coach Gonzalo Garcia. Since taking over the team in early January, the coach had been unable to maintain a consistent training schedule, as the red-and-black team was in a marathon of matches and travel in the NBB and the Liga das Américas.
"This time was very important for the team because, for the first time since I joined the team, I was able to train for a week and a half without a break. The first week was basically dedicated to physical training, and then we moved on to tactical training," explained Gonzalo Garcia. "We expect an improvement in our performance compared to recent games and that we will remain among the top teams," he added.
Flamengo is second in the overall standings with 15 wins in 21 games (71,43% success rate), one win less than leader Pinheiros (76,19%). In the first round, in Rio de Janeiro, Flamengo defeated Joinville 85-78. It was Gonzalo Garcia's debut as manager.
"Of course I hope for another victory, but the match will be more difficult, because now they will have the advantage of playing at home," concluded the coach.
This Friday's game will mark the return of American forward David Teague to the team. He had been out of action for nearly a month after suffering a back injury in the match against Vitória on February 13.02.
