Mengão is on the Brazilian national team! Point guard Arthur Pecos and center JP Batista are on coach Cesar Guidetti's pre-call list for the Copa América de Basquete, which will be held between August 25th and September 3rd in Colombia, Uruguay, and Argentina.
In his first experience with the adult national team, Pecos celebrated the call-up.
"I'm very happy. These are two dreams coming true at the same time: starting the season playing for Flamengo and receiving my first call-up to the Brazilian senior national team. I want to make the most of this moment I'm experiencing," said the point guard.
JP Batista, who already has two gold medals at the Pan American Games with the Brazilian National Team, highlighted his pride in representing the country.
"Playing for the Brazilian national team is a childhood dream. The news of being called up, whether it's my first, second, or third, I receive with the same joy. It's an honor, and I want to emphasize that it's a great source of pride, and that I arrive with a thirst for victories and to help as much as possible," said the Mais Querido's number 13.
The Flamengo Regatas Club basketball teams receive funding from their sponsors – Estácio, AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, and EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), as well as support from the Brazilian Club Committee (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources generated by the Pelé Law. The Flamengo Guardian Angel Project, a personal tax transfer, benefits all Olympic sports of the Most Beloved Club.
