His Facebook profile is already packed with Flamengo fans. His photo albums already feature one with photos of him wearing a Flamengo jersey and another with photos of his new home, Rio de Janeiro. Apparently, American Kyle Lamonte is truly excited about the chance to play for the Gávea team this season. Alongside his wife, Shayla, and children, Kyle and Kyla, he's been spending his first days in the Marvelous City, training with his teammates and getting used to the new routine.

The point guard's spirit also reflects the red-and-blacks' greatest characteristic: grit. At 25, Lamonte, MVP of the last Liga de las Americas (Liga de las Americas) while playing for Peñarol, Argentina, and a graduate in Sports Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi, is ready to give his all wearing the Sacred Mantle.

"I'll do what I can. Whatever the team needs, you can count on me. I'm here to give my best. I can help on the bench and even fetch water for my teammates. I'm a competitive player, I like to win, and I like to win championships. I want to do that here at Flamengo too," he said.

Flamengo fans who type Kyle Lamonte or his nickname, Black Cobra, into video searches on online video sites will be able to see a glimpse of what the new Flamengo number 11 can do. But for those unfamiliar with his basketball, the player explains a bit about his playing style.

"It's difficult to define, but I like to score baskets, especially driving and getting into the paint. I believe I have a good shot, but I prefer to attack the basket, go for the layup and worry the opposing defense," said Lamonte, who took the opportunity to praise his new teammates.

"I think I'll do well here. I've been very well received. It's everything I expected and more. The team is great, every player. We have excellent Brazilian athletes and I'll try to fit in as quickly as possible to help the team," he added.
