The Brazilian basketball team began this Monday (30.06) its preparation for the South American Championship, which will be played from July 24 to 28, on Margarita Island, in Venezuela. For Flamengo, the forward/center Olivinha, the forward/point guard Vitor Benite, the point guard Gegê and the center Cristiano Felício, in addition to the coach José Neto, the assistant coach Rodrigo da Silva and the physical trainer Diego Falcão were in the activity.

In the morning, the players underwent physical tests and medical exams; in the afternoon, the athletes performed their first ball practice at the Clube Atlético Paulistano gymnasium. The physical tests were conducted by the Instituto Península (NAR) High Performance Center team in Morumbi, under the supervision of physical trainers Diego Falcão, from Flamengo, and Diego Jeleilate.

"It's important to emphasize the commitment of all players to undergoing physical testing, which demonstrates a cultural shift among athletes in Brazil. This is important because those in the adult squad are role models for the youngsters in the youth academy. I can guarantee that, overall, the group arrived well-prepared to begin their preparations," Falcão said.

Flamengo's NBB6 champion winger/point guard Vitor Benite spoke about his expectations for the competition. "I want to have a good South American tournament, leading Brazil to its goals and also aiming for a spot in the World Cup group. But I know that this spot will be a consequence of the work I put in during training and in the competition in Venezuela," he said.
