Last Tuesday (2), the Brazilian Olympic basketball team finished its preparation for the Rio 2016 Games undefeated. The national team won all six friendly matches it played - the last one against Lithuania, the opponent in the Olympic debut.

For José Neto, Flamengo's coach and Rubén Magnano's assistant in the national team, more than just positive results, the team has gained match rhythm and is prepared to fight for qualification.

"I believe we had good preparation. We managed to establish a team dynamic so that the players can perform collectively. Several players have been working with Ruben since 2010, when he arrived in Brazil. Therefore, the game concepts are already well established. The games were good for getting the team into rhythm. Against Lithuania in the first Olympic game, we will be prepared to seek our first victory and continue our pursuit of qualification for the next phase," said the coach.

In addition to Neto, Flamengo has two more representatives in the basketball team: physical trainer Diego Falcão and forward Marquinhos. They are all already in the Olympic Village experiencing the anticipation of the Games very close to Arena Carioca 1, which will host the sport's matches. The first game will be this Sunday (7), at 14:15 pm.

The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo adult basketball team relies on direct funding from its sponsor Estácio, in addition to investments from Tim via the State Sports Incentive Law/State Secretariat for Sports, Leisure and Youth (ICMS).
