Flamengo's under-19 basketball team debuts in the second round of the State Championship this Wednesday (June 20.06) against Nova Iguaçu at 20 p.m. at the Hélio Maurício Gymnasium in Gávea. The team finished the first round in second place, with six wins in eight games. Earlier, at 18:30 p.m., the under-14 team faces Central at the same venue, also in the second round opener. The team ended its participation in the first phase with a 100% record (six wins in six games).
Last Saturday (June 16.06), the under-17 team maintained its unbeaten run in the competition by beating Fluminense 72-54 in Gávea, to close the first round. Fla's top scorer was Ales Cesar with 23 points. The under-17 team returns to the court on July 07.07 against Macaé at 14 p.m. in Macaé. The under-15 team, in turn, defeated the same opponent 52-45 and also closed its participation in the first phase without losing a single game. The standout for the Gávea team was Felipe Novelino with 13 points. The next challenge will be against Botafogo on July 21.07 at 12:30 p.m. in Gávea, in the first round of the return leg.

The teams, who hadn't faced each other since last year's final, played a tough match. Thiago Batista scored 15 points but was unable to prevent the opponent's victory, which was only confirmed in the final minute of the game.
