After last night's overtime victory over Minas/Pitágoras, the basketball coaching staff decided to cancel this Saturday's practice. Activities were scheduled for tonight at 19:30 PM, hours after the delegation arrived from Belo Horizonte. The goal is to let the team rest, with an eye on Sunday's tough home game at 10 AM against the strong Universo Brasília team.
One of the peculiarities of this Sunday's game is its time, an hour earlier than normally scheduled for matches at the HSBC Arena. This is another reason to rest, according to winger Marcelinho Machado. "This time changes the group's entire routine, but I talked to them, and they know they need to conserve energy to be at their best tomorrow, especially because of the extra time [against Minas], which was even more exhausting."
Coach Paulo Chupeta says the game's intensity may be affected. "It changes our habits a bit when the game is at 10 a.m., because we have to wake up earlier, about an hour or so before, which isn't ideal. But that's no excuse, especially because both teams are making sacrifices, and they also need to change their schedule. Therefore, the game may even be a little less intense. But it will certainly be a great game."
