While Brazilian basketball coach José Neto continues to monitor the Brazilian National Team, the Pride of the Nation has already resumed training for the long season ahead. Led by assistant coach Rodrigo Carlos da Silva, the team is already preparing for the World Championship, which will take place on September 26th and 28th at the HSBC Arena, against the Israeli team Maccabi Tel Aviv. The season continues with dispute of friendlies in the NBA; Mais Querido will face the Phoenix Suns on October 8th, the Orlando Magic on the 15th and the Memphis Grizzlies on the 17th. In addition to these games, the red-black basketball team will also participate, during the 2014/2015 season, in the NBB and the League of the Americas.
Responsible for helping with team planning and game planning, Rodrigo is already in his third week of coaching the team. "In the first week, we focused more on medical and physical exams. In the second, we began court work and technical training to get the players back to using the ball. In this final week, we focused on tactics and more elaborate plays. Now, we'll begin defensive work. We'll soon have the full group ready to continue this preparation," said the fitness coach.
With the return of American Jerome Meyinsse, the red-and-black team awaits the return of the players from the national team. The "Mais Querido" (The Most Beloved) should have a full squad by September 17th, with the return of Brazilians Marcelinho and Marquinhos and Argentines Laprovittola and Herrmann, as well as coach José Neto. Meanwhile, Flamengo continues its preseason training plan, trying to get as much preparation as possible for the World Cup.
