Without the presence of brothers Marcelinho, with the main team, and Duda, with the B team, who are preparing for the South American Championship in Colombia, from July 26th to 31st, and for the World Cup in Turkey, from August 28th to September 12th, respectively, and the North American wing Kyle Lamonte, who only arrives in Rio in the second week of August, the Flamengo basketball team will be back on Monday (26th), at 17pm, at the Hélio Maurício Gymnasium, in Gávea.

The big news for the Brazilian runner-up's return will be Baby, who returns to the club after a stint with Paulistano. A 2009 National League champion with the red-and-black team, the center doesn't hide his excitement and reveals even more ambitious plans for the 2010/2011 season.

"I'm very happy with this return. In fact, I wanted to come back from the first day I left here, which would never have happened if I had. But that's in the past and now I just want to think about next season. I'm really looking forward to wearing the Flamengo shirt again and meeting the red-and-black fans. I hope to win many titles here and, consequently, return to the Brazilian national team," said the center, who signed a two-year contract.

In addition to Baby and the coaching staff led by coach Paulo Chupeta, five other players will return this Monday for a two-week period of medical examinations and physical tests: point guards Fred and Hélio; power forwards Jefferson and Guilherme Teichmann and center Wagner.

Happy with the two major reinforcements signed so far, the red-black commander also celebrated the maintenance of the base that was the Brazilian runner-up.

"The signings of Baby and Lamonte were sensational. They are two unique players who will fit perfectly into our squad. Lamonte will be important to share some of our offensive volume with Marcelo. Baby is that key player in the paint who we sorely missed in the final playoffs against Brasília. But we can't forget the management's efforts in renewing the core that gave us our second Brazilian championship," Chupeta emphasized.

One of the main people responsible for assembling the squad, basketball director Arnaldo Szpiro does not hide his enthusiasm for the team for the 2010/2011 season and states that new reinforcements may still arrive.

"I think that with the renewal of the youth academy last season and the arrival of Lamonte, who was MVP in Argentina, and Baby, we have formed the strongest team in the last three years. We know that other teams have also strengthened, like Pinheiros and Franca, for example, but we are determined to win every title possible. The idea is to complete the group with two more players and some young players," revealed Arnaldo.
