Welcome back, JP Batista!

Pivot returns honored to wear the Mantle: "It's a huge privilege"

By - in

Flamengo's third signing for the 21/22 season is a familiar face: JP Batista. Experienced and with a consolidated career in Brazil and abroad, the player previously played for the club between 2015 and 2018. He returns after playing for Mogi, Le Mans-FRA, and Minas Gerais.

Wearing the Sacred Mantle, the center won two State Championships and one NBB Championship. The national title came in his first season at Gávea, in a best-of-five series against Bauru, following a 100-66 victory at Arena Carioca 2. On that day, JP was instrumental with 20 points, six rebounds, and 23 points per game. During his three years, he maintained good scoring averages and stood out for his style of play, with a commanding command of the paint.

"It's a huge honor and privilege to wear the Mantle. I've had the opportunity to play for Mengão, and being able to be part of this family again is something very special to me. As the anthem says... Once a Flamengo, Flamengo until death," he declared.
