Flamengo's point guard Vitor Benite is expected to be out of action for about six months. The athlete's injury is confirmed in the official report issued by Dr. Cláudio Cardone. An MRI scan performed Tuesday night (November 26.11) revealed that the player suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and a tear in the lateral meniscus of his left knee. This confirms the need for surgery, which will be performed within the next 15 days, while the knee inflammation is being reduced. The athlete will receive treatment from his private physician.

 

Benite's recovery time is six to eight months, counting from the surgical procedure. Therefore, he is out for this season (2013/2014). The point guard suffered a sprain in the region in the final minutes of the victory against Palmeiras, last Thursday (21.11).

 

Benite is calm and optimistic about starting treatment.

 

"The injury happened, unfortunately every athlete is subject to this. Now it's time to look ahead, see everything I need to recover in the best possible way, stay focused on recovery and be patient. It's a long treatment, you have to be calm. Now I'm going to cheer a lot for our team and try to return even better for the team," said the athlete.
