Boca Juniors finished third in the South American Basketball League. In the bronze medal match, they defeated Quimsa, the tournament's last champion, 79-66 (36-30), in a derby match at the HSBC Arena in Jacarepaguá, Rio de Janeiro. Fierro, from the winning team, led the way with 25 points.

After scoring the first points with center Vega, Boca Juniors let Quimsa take the lead and fell behind by eight points. However, the blue and yellow team turned the score around to 15-14 – thanks to a beautiful basket from point guard Moodie – with less than two minutes remaining in the first half, opening up a 13-point lead and going into halftime with a 36-30 lead. Center Fierro, with 16 points and five rebounds, was the standout performer of the period.

The second half was fairly even, with Boca Juniors consistently in the lead, holding off their rival's comebacks. Late in the match, Quimsa couldn't resist their better performance and let their opponent pull away, closing the score at 79-66.

Boca Juniors' main player, with 25 points and nine rebounds, Fierro highlighted the importance of achieving third place in the South American League.

"I'm very happy that we got the bronze. In addition to third place, we managed to secure a spot in the League of the Americas," he celebrated.
