FlaBasquete has a new fitness coach. Bruno Nicolaci, 36, joins the Pride of the Nation's coaching staff for the 2018/19 season. Responsible for the Brazilian National Team's fitness, Bruno previously played for Vasco da Gama and worked with players like Anderson Varejão, Leandrinho Barbosa, and Nenê Hilário.

Excited about the new challenge, Nicolaci spoke about the feeling of representing the Sacred Mantle.

"It's a great honor to be part of a team with such a long basketball tradition. Receiving this invitation to take charge of their physical training is incredibly rewarding for me. I'm very happy and honored," said the physical trainer.

As part of the multidisciplinary project implemented at the club, CUIDAR's new hire spoke about his work at Mais Querido.

"I think this integration between the coaching staff and the medical, physiotherapy, and physical therapists is great. It's work that will be very important for us," he said.

FlaBasquete's General Manager, Diego Jeleilate also spoke about the hiring of Bruno Nicolaci to join the red-black coaching staff.

"We had a very high-level selection process for the position, and Gustavo (De Conti) is a coach who relies heavily on physical preparation. The teams he coaches are characterized by their physical intensity, so we looked for someone who fit that profile. I worked with Bruno Nicolaci to prepare several athletes and I really identify with his work methodology. When I mentioned the challenge, he accepted and joined us because Flamengo needs to be strong on and off the court. He is the current coach of the Brazilian National Team, with extensive experience and who will greatly contribute to our work," Jeleilate analyzed.

The Flamengo Regatas basketball teams receive funding from their sponsors – Thinkseg, TIM, AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, and EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR) and the State Incentive Law/Rio de Janeiro State Secretariat of Sports, Recreation, and Youth (Seelje), as well as support from the Brazilian Club Committee (CBC) through the decentralization of funds from the Pelé Law. The Flamengo Guardian Angel Project, a personal tax transfer, benefits all Olympic sports of the club.
