"I'm happy to be contributing; having this positive impact is every player's goal. I work every day for this; it's my role, it's what I try to bring to the team. This year, I'm managing to have this aforementioned protagonism. I'm trying to be aggressive and utilize the available options; the team is doing that well," the center assessed.
When asked if he considers returning to the national team, JP left the possibility open. "I think it's been ten years since my first call-up. I've always made it clear that I'm always available. Brazil is a dream for every player; it's a huge honor to wear this jersey, regardless of the competition. I'll be very happy if I'm called up," he said.
The key is shared with a youngster of just 18 years old. João Vitor, a promising red-and-black player, stated that he is inspired by JP Batista to improve every day.
"João is a very talented kid. I had some veterans who tried to help me when I started, and I think it's crucial; it's the least I can do to try to maximize his potential. He's been under a lot of pressure because when I leave, he has to come in and produce. I always try to be positive and show details. Today was a good game to show that he's receiving information well," concluded JP.
Flamengo's next match will be against Joinville at 18 p.m. at Tijuca Tênis Clube. The match is part of the Novo Basquete Brasil 10.
