After six years as head coach of the men's basketball team, coach Paulo Chupeta will change roles. He will take over as head coach of the youth basketball team and will be responsible for developing new talent with an eye on the 2016 Olympic Games.

As coach of the main team, Chupeta won six state championships, two Brazilian championships, and the South American Championship. The decision was made this Tuesday by mutual agreement between the club's board and the coach.

"Flamengo recognizes the coach's value and is extremely grateful for everything he has done and achieved with this group. However, due to daily interaction for more than six years in a row, there has been a natural wear and tear, and by mutual agreement, we have reached this decision," said Vice President of Olympic Sports Cristina Callou.

"Chupeta's role at the club will now be very important because we are in the process of developing new players and he will be able to use all his experience to help us form championship teams," he added.

The new head coach of the main team has not yet been named, but that should happen in the coming days. The team is currently on break for the holiday season and will return on January 03rd.
