Coach believes his players will be acquitted in trial this Friday

Flamengo did its homework, beating Brasília and forcing the fifth game of the Novo Basquete Brasil final series to be played on Sunday in Anápolis, Goiás. Hélio, Jefferson, Duda, Wagner, Dedé, and Vitor were charged by the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD). All athletes will be charged with unsportsmanlike conduct under Article 258 of the Brazilian Code of Sports Justice (CBJD), with the exception of Jefferson, who will be charged with physical assault under Article 254-A. Hélio, Dedé, and Wagner were also charged with assault, in addition to unsportsmanlike conduct. However, coach Paulo Chupeta is confident his players will be acquitted.
"The people leading the League and the Superior Court of Justice (STJD) are serious people, and I believe they'll have the common sense to understand that the players were attacked. We'll wait and see, but I hope we have the players in the game. The only one who stands to gain is basketball itself," said the coach.
The trial of the case takes place from 19 pm and Brasília responds to the following articles: 191, section III (failure to comply with general or special competition regulations), 211 (failure to maintain the location that has been indicated for holding the event with the necessary infrastructure to ensure full guarantee and security for its holding); and 213, sections and sections I, II and III (failure to take measures capable of preventing and repressing disorders in its sports arena, invasion of the venue of the sporting event and throwing of objects at the venue of the sporting event).
