In the Basketball Development League (LDB), an under-22 competition, Chupeta stands out. A complete athlete, the point guard plays and makes the team play. His strong form helps explain the red-and-black team's current form, having won all 19 matches played so far in the championship. The goal is the LDB title, but the player has his sights set higher: the adult category.
"This season, which is about to start, I hope to have more time on the court, show a little more service and earn my place in this Flamengo team, which has the capacity to be champion of the New Basketball Brazil (NBB) again," said the 21-year-old.
Chupeta was part of the last NBB championship squad, but according to statistics from the National Basketball League, he only played in five games and averaged just over three minutes of play per game. In the LDB, the story is different. The shooting guard is a starter and was selected to the Top 25 in all three stages of the competition.
"I was happy and proud about it. Being among the top is a result of my training and what Flamengo does for me," said the athlete, who is 10th in the LDB assists rankings. Among Flamengo players, he is second only to Gegê in this regard.
For the past two weeks, Chupeta has only trained with Flamengo's senior team, as the start of the season approaches (the team's State Championship debut against Macaé on October 4th). But since the start of the fourth phase of the LDB is also approaching (next month on the 8th), the point guard is also expected to train with the under-22 team next week.
