In the other bracket, Paulistano and Franca will decide who will advance. The grand final is scheduled for the 29th, at the home venue of the team with the better NBB record. Flamengo will only decide outside of Rio if Franca advances to the final. The game this Thursday will be at 21:10 pm, broadcast live on Fox Sports.
Flamengo and Botafogo have a fierce basketball rivalry. However, since the black and white team returned to the national elite, Botafogo has won every match. This season, they have already faced each other five times. In the State Championship, the teams faced each other in the qualifying round, with Flamengo prevailing in both matches. In the debut, at General Severiano, a tight game resulted in a 67-57 victory. In the return match, at Tijuca Tênis Clube, another close match: 73-69. The teams qualified for the final and Flamengo won two victories in the best of three: 88 to 69 and 83 to 73, guaranteeing the Trideca state championship.
Switching gears to the NBB, the two teams faced off at Tijuca Tênis Clube in early December, and Flamengo prevailed again, 102-73, the match with the largest score difference this year. Overall, Flamengo won three games and three victories. Last season, the January 19th match marked the largest historical difference between the two: 107-54 for Orgulho da Nação.
Toys for Tickets
As with the previous match against Minas, there will be no ticket sales for this match. Tickets will be exchanged for toys in good condition at the Arena entrance. One toy = one ticket. As with all classics in Rio de Janeiro, this Flamengo vs. Botafogo match will feature a single Flamengo fan base.
