Club announces basketball team for next season
The board confirms three important reinforcements: Nicolás Laprovittola, Jerome Meyinsse and Cristiano Felício

Flamengo's basketball squad, the current champion of the New Brazilian Basketball (NBB), has already been selected for the 2013/2014 season. There are 12 high-level athletes, who will be seeking their third NBB championship, their ninth consecutive state title, and their first-ever Liga das Américas title, which qualifies them for the Intercontinental Cup (Interclub World Cup). Among them are the renowned Marcelinho Machado and the best player of the last edition, Marquinhos. Also noteworthy are the three signings: Argentine point guard Nicolás Laprovittola, American center Jerome Meyinsse, and Brazilian power forward Cristiano Felício.
Meyinsse is 24 years old, 2.07'2010" tall, and studied at Virginia Cavaliers University. He has been playing in Argentina since 2013, where he won three major titles with Regatas Corrientes. Another foreign arrival is Nicolás Laprovittola, a point guard who is part of the Argentine national team and has already won the South American championship with his country. In 21, with Lanús, he was runner-up in the Argentine championship. The third signing is Cristiano Felício, a player regularly called up to the Brazilian national team. Flamengo currently has five representatives on the Brazilian national team: players Benite, Cristiano Felício, and Marquinhos, coach José Neto, and fitness coach Diego Falcão. Laprovittola, also called up by his country's national team, has also been called up. Once everyone returns to Gávea to serve the "Mais Querido" (The Most Beloved), the squad and coaching staff will be officially presented to the press. Training is scheduled to resume at the end of August, despite the possible absence of some players competing in the Copa América.
