Club pays tribute to Marcello Cocada at HSBC Arena

Former player and coach of the club passed away last week

Former Flamengo player and coach Marcello Cocada, who passed away on February 22, was honored on Friday night at the HSBC Arena. Having also played for Fluminense (RJ) and Minas (MG), Cocada was also an assistant coach to Ary Vidal on the Brazilian national team in the mid-90s.

During halftime of the match between Flamengo and Joinville, president Patricia Amorim presented Diogo Cocada, Marcello's son, with a personalized jersey bearing the number 10 and his father's name. The fans in attendance chanted Cocada's name, and afterward, all the players and coaching staff embraced Diogo, who couldn't hide his emotion.

Marcello was buried in Passa Quatro, Minas Gerais, where his family lived. He recently participated as a friend and coach at the AVBN (Niterói Basketball Veterans Association).
