With a blackout in the city of Barquisimeto, Venezuela, mid-game, Flamengo lost to Brasília 91-79 this Friday (February 8.02) in their debut in the League of the Americas. Despite the loss, the Mais Querido still has a chance of qualifying in the competition. And they need to think about playing better than they did today, when they weren't at their best on the court.

"The team played well below their potential, and Brasília took advantage of that. They had control of the game, but we weren't able to regain control. It's their merit that they knew how to capitalize on that moment," lamented coach José Neto.

Failing to hit free throws and suffering defensive errors, Flamengo failed to assert itself throughout the match. Caio Torres led Flamengo with 19 points. Early in the fourth quarter, a power outage delayed the match, which only resumed minutes later. 

Now, Flamengo needs to beat Fuerza Regia this Saturday (February 9.02) to maintain its chances of qualifying in the competition. The red-black team needs to be among the top two in Group B or be one of the two best third-placed teams in all groups.
