With Balbi linked, FlaBasquete embarks on two commitments in São Paulo for the NBB
In the final stretch of his recovery, the Argentine point guard returned to training with the team, but will still be spared.
By Helena Petry - inThe Pride of the Nation is already on the air bridge once again! After two home matches, playing in front of the red-black fans, FlaBasquete embarked this Monday (08) for São Paulo, where they face two commitments in the NBB. On Tuesday (09), at 20 pm, the opponent is Corinthians, at the Wlamir Marques gym, with live broadcast on ESPN. The match on Thursday (11) will be against Paulistano, at 19:30 pm, at the Antonio Prado Jr. gym. Fla TV will broadcast the duel.
The competition leader, the Mais Querido, has a 100% record, with five wins in five matches. This year, FlaBasquete has won 41 consecutive official matches and has not lost a single one. The team's record against this week's NBB opponents is also positive: of the eight matches against Corinthians, Flamengo won seven. The gap against Paulistano is even greater, with 27 wins for Mengão in 33 matches.
Among the players selected for the matches in São Paulo, Franco Balbi is the new addition. The Argentine point guard returns to the squad after nearly eight months away from the court. In March, "O Mago" suffered a ligament injury in his right knee and required surgery, which was performed in early April. Now in the final stages of recovery, Balbi is part of coach Gustavo De Conti's group of 12 players for the matches against Corinthians and Paulistano, but has not yet been cleared by the medical department to play.
"I need to stay focused because this final stretch could be the most difficult of all. I'll accompany the team on this trip, trying to do as much training as possible and spend time with them on the court," said Balbi. "I feel good, I want to keep going, I want to play, but there's still a little bit left. But my recovery has been very good."
