On Saturday night (17.10), the Pride of the Nation took to the court for another historic game. Flamengo lost to the Orlando Magic 90-73, but showed grit until the end and fought back, winning the final quarter 22-12. The match was another step in the preparation for the upcoming challenges and an opportunity for the new faces to gel with the base maintained from last season.

The game
In the first quarter, Flamengo, with several new additions, picked up the pace and surged forward in the final minutes. Orlando opened up a large lead, but with three-pointers from Marcelinho and Marquinhos, the Red-Blacks came from behind and closed the period trailing 26-17.
In the second quarter, Marquinhos put Flamengo eight points behind their opponent (29-21) with another long-range basket. Flamengo managed to keep the game balanced, but remained behind 51-34. In the third quarter, Flamengo fought hard, but struggled against Orlando's strong physical play, and the American team's advantage increased to 78-51.
In the final period, Marcelinho's calibrated hand reduced the advantage to 79 to 59. By the end of the match, Mingau and JP Batista also scored and Flamengo won the final quarter by 22 to 12, closing the match 17 points behind on the scoreboard: 90 to 73 for the Orlando Magic.
