One of Flamengo's key basketball signings for the 2012/2013 season, winger Marquinhos wore the red-and-black jersey for the first time after signing his contract with the Rio de Janeiro club. Formerly of Pinheiros, the 28-year-old, 2,07'XNUMX" player is with the Brazilian national team in São Paulo, preparing for the London Olympics. The club also officially signed winger/point guard Vitor Benite (formerly of Limeira); point guards Kojo (formerly of Joinville) and Gegê (formerly of Tijuca); forward/center Olivinha (formerly of Pinheiros); and center Shilton (formerly of Joinville). 

From the team that competed in the 2011/2012 South American League and NBB, winger and captain Marcelinho and center Caio Torres, who are also with the Brazilian national team, will remain at Gávea, along with winger/point guard Duda. The team will be led by José Neto, coach of the youth national teams and assistant coach to Ruben Magnano on the senior national team, who was at Joinville. With this, Flamengo has finalized its roster for next season. The team's presentation will be in August.

"I'm very happy and motivated to play for Flamengo. It's one of the most traditional and important teams in Brazilian basketball, having already won the Brazilian Championship and the South American League. The board is building a very strong team capable of winning these titles again, and helping the club reach the top of the podium in major competitions is my biggest goal. Not to mention that Flamengo has a wonderful fan base, who are always following and supporting the team," said Marquinhos.

Winger/point guard Benite, another player with the national team, also spoke about his motivation to play for Flamengo.

"This is another important challenge in my career, as Flamengo is a traditional team, with a very strong team, with players of enormous quality and accustomed to titles, not to mention the infinite number of fans. I'm here to contribute and help the team win titles," said Benite.
