Flamengo finished its Copa Avianca campaign strong. Aiming to rotate its squad and build team chemistry for the second phase of the South American League, coach José Neto's team entered the final match of the competition seeking a positive result to boost morale for upcoming matches. Point guard Arthur Pecos was once again rested by the coaching staff. With an excellent collective performance, the Rubro-Negro closed the match with a score of 98-87.
One of the highlights of the match was pivot JP Batista, who declared that participation in the Avianca Cup was beneficial.
"The result was very positive, we faced strong teams and we are looking for the best form of the team for our main objective which is the second phase of the South American League", said the number 13.
The game
Flamengo took the lead early on, but Vitória responded well with a strong three-point shooting record. At the end of the first quarter, Vitória trailed by six points.
In the second quarter, the comeback was spontaneous. Flamengo attacked the Bahian team and opened up a large lead, finishing the period with a 30-16 partial and taking a strong lead into halftime.
After the break, FlaBasquete continued with the greatest intensity, with excellent plays by David Cubillan and Marquinhos, the score kept increasing and the Pride of the Nation only consolidated itself on the scoreboard.
At the end of the match, the team could only wait for the clock to run out and celebrate another great victory.
