Brazilian Basketball Team wins first game at the Pan American Games

The Brazilian basketball team debuted this Tuesday (21.07) at the Pan American Games in Toronto, and, with Flamengo represented on the court, emerged victorious in its first match. Brazil beat Puerto Rico 92-59, with partial scores of 31 x 6, 29 x 11, 19 x 25 and 13 x 17, securing temporary first place in Group A.
Flamengo's point guard Vitor Benite scored 16 of Brazil's 92 points, forming part of Argentine coach Rubén Magnano's starting five. Olivinha and Flamengo's newest signing, center JP Batista, also performed well on the court. FlaBasquete coach José Neto, who is currently serving as an assistant for the national team, and Flamengo's physical trainer Diego Falcão are part of the Brazilian coaching staff. Brazil's next challenge is this Wednesday (July 22.07) against Venezuela.
The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo adult basketball team receives direct funding from its sponsors – SKY, Estácio, and Peugeot – as well as investments from Tim through the State Sports Incentive Law/State Secretariat of Sports, Leisure, and Youth (ICMS).
