With the red-and-black 'giant', youth athletes win silver at the School Games
Seven Flamengo basketball players reached the final through the CEL, including João Vitor França, the tallest athlete in the competition at 2,13m

Representing the Lagoa Educational Center (CEL), seven athletes from the base of the red-black basketball team were runners-up in the Youth School Games, held in Londrina, Paraná, until November 21st.
Kayo Goncalves, João Vitor França, Pablo Moura, Heitor Cesar, and Felipe Machado represent Flamengo's under-17 team, while Pedro Henrique Bork and Hugo Andrade dos Santos represented the under-15 team. The boys lost in the final to Colégio Amorim Tatuapé, 100-65, in the First Division final of the Men's Tournament.

Among the boys, João Vitor was the tallest athlete at the Games, standing at 7 feet 11 inches tall and just 16 years old. He's part of the Brazilian U-17 team, which finished runner-up in the South American Championship this year, securing a spot in next year's Copa América. Also on the national team were Kayo and fellow Flamengo player Tiago Fioravanti Zibecchi.
Organized by the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB), the Youth School Games annually reveal new talents for Brazilian sports. In addition to identifying high-performance athletes, the event aims to contribute to the social inclusion of young people through sports.
The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo basketball teams receive funding from their sponsors – CSN (Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional), Banco Bonsucesso, and Brasil Brokers – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), as well as support from the Brazilian Confederation of Clubs (CBC) through the decentralization of resources from the Pelé Law.
