Another great performance! In the eighth round of the NBB, Flamengo defeated Franca 93-62 on Saturday afternoon (05), at the Morumbi gymnasium, in São Paulo. The red-black team's top scorer in the match was Hettsheimeir with 18 points. With the victory, the Pride of the Nation maintained its unbeaten run in the championship and will go all out to face São Paulo in the next round of the competition.

The game
The first quarter was very evenly matched. The Pride of the Nation tried to shoot, but the ball refused to go in. Franca's team also wasted some shots on offense. With a three-pointer converted by Mineiro, Flamengo fell one point behind. Subsequently, Olivinha was fouled, putting Mengão ahead. But in the final seconds of the period, Franca tied the match: 15-15.

At the start of the second quarter, the game picked up in intensity and remained fairly even, with both teams exchanging points. Franco Balbi hit a three-pointer and put the Red-Blacks back in front. With a flurry of three-pointers, Mengão built a lead and finished the period ahead 44-32.

Flamengo's first points of the third quarter came from Chuzito, who converted two free throws. Chuzito again, this time with a three-point shot, further increased the Flamengo lead. With increased game volume, Flamengo excelled at defensive rebounding and, when they moved into the frontcourt, managed to convert points on most plays. In another three-point sequence, Yago, Jhonatan, and Leo Demetrio converted nine more points, the result of excellent collective effort by the Flamengo team. The period ended 73-49 for Flamengo.

Leading 26 points, the Pride of the Nation had the confidence to work the ball and select the best plays. Hettsheimeir, a strong rebounder, also stood out in the match with 18 points. With a clear advantage, especially from the second period onward, FlaBasquete had no trouble closing out the match 93-62.

The Pride of the Nation returns to the court next Tuesday (08) to face São Paulo, at 20 pm, again at the Morumbi gym.
