Flamengo's basketball team is in the next phase of the Liga das Américas with another undeniable performance. With a resounding 121-76 victory this Sunday, Flamengo defeated Estrellas Occidentales of Venezuela and reached the semifinal round of the intercontinental tournament. The score confirms a great performance in a game in which every player who took the court scored (point guard Kojo did not play). Center Shilton recorded a double-double with 11 rebounds and 17 points and celebrated the victory:

"Personally, I'm very happy to be playing well again, especially given our qualification. I know the goal was to give the team more rotation, but it's great to know that I helped the team collectively and achieved this double-double. Now it's time to focus on the next stage, which will be much tougher," he revealed.

This time, the team opened up a 20-point lead in the second quarter and gave their opponent no more chances, exploiting set plays effectively and maintaining organization on defense. Besides Shilton, one of the night's standouts, Flamengo also had another star: shooting guard Benite, who had a great night. He led all scorers with 27 points and 11 assists, proving that the poor debut is now firmly behind them.

"After the first defeat, we had the merit of playing well again in the other games and maintaining the chemistry that characterizes our team. The most important thing was to qualify and have the peace of mind to work calmly in the next two games to qualify," he analyzed.

Now, Flamengo returns to Brazil for the NBB. The team has a new challenge against Franca next Saturday (16.02).
