On Saturday afternoon (20), FlaBasquete returned to the Tijuca Tennis Club court to face Vitória and get back to winning ways, after having a ten-game winning streak in the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) interrupted by Basquete Cearense on Wednesday (17). The mission was accomplished with a resounding victory: 101 to 53. Marcelinho was the top scorer of the match, with 18 points. The collective strength of Mais Querido was also highlighted, with four more athletes reaching double digits in scoring: Marquinhos (13), Mineiro (11), Olivinha (16) and Robinson (14).
"The team showed that it has a different capacity than it demonstrated on Wednesday (in the loss to Basquete Cearense). I always tell them: we can't just have a good team. We need to be a good team. Nothing changed in training from Wednesday to today, only the awareness of the players who put into practice everything they know and have been doing. It's a spirited and high-quality team," Neto analyzed.
The game
In the clash between the two red-and-black teams, the current three-time champion Flamengo, fighting for the lead, and Vitória, which is at the bottom of the table, logic prevailed. From the first quarter, the Pride of the Nation showed superiority and won the period by a wide margin of 22 to 10. In the second quarter, with sharp three-point shooting from Marcelinho, Olivinha, Ramon and Robinson, the score went to 48 to 22.
After the break, Flamengo managed the large lead they had built up in the first two periods well, and also relied on the accurate shooting of Marquinhos and Robinson to secure another victory in the competition and continue their quest for a fifth championship.
"Today we had a very good performance. In the last game we didn't manage it, but today the team took advantage of the chances it had. When that happens, it's difficult for us to lose," said Olivinha.

With this result, Flamengo ties with Bauru for the lead in the tournament, with 38 points (17 wins in 20 games). Their next match will only be on March 4th, as José Neto's team will travel to Venezuela to compete in the semi-final phase of the Liga das Américas on February 26th, 27th, and 28th.
