Flamengo beat Pato Basquete 101-63 on Sunday afternoon (9), in the team's return to Maracanãzinho after a sequence of four away games, for the eighth round of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB). With the result, Mais Querido reaches its best start in the competition since the 16/17 season, with eight consecutive wins and guaranteed leadership.

The standout player of the match was shooting guard Gui Deodato, who scored an impressive 30 points in FlaBasquete's fourth consecutive victory in eight games this season of the NBB. The team's offensive prowess was matched by defensive solidity, limiting the visitors to just 63 points. A resounding victory in every aspect of the game.

Even after returning to Rio, Rubro-Negro is already preparing to hit the road again towards São Paulo. The next matches will be against Franca, on Wednesday (12), at Pedrocão, and against Paulistano, on Saturday (15), in the capital of São Paulo.

The Game

1st Bedroom

The first two minutes of the game were marked by numerous errors from both sides, with the score remaining 0-0. But it only took Gui Deodato to get into the rhythm for the scenario to change completely. The shooting guard took control of the quarter and started what would become a spectacular one, scoring 16 points. Under his leadership, Flamengo went on an 11-0 run and pulled away on the scoreboard. The offensive momentum was also sustained by contributions from Shaq Johnson and Alex Negrete, who each scored 4 points. Dominating on both ends of the court, Flamengo finished the first quarter ahead: 24-16.

2st Bedroom

If the first quarter had already shown a focused and dominant Flamengo in all aspects of the game, the second was even better. Gui Deodato continued as the protagonist, adding 8 more points and reaching 24 before halftime. Markeith Cummings also stood out, scoring 9 points in the quarter. With 50% shooting accuracy from the field and another impeccable defense, Flamengo controlled the game, won the quarter 24-14 and went into halftime with a comfortable lead: 48-30.

3st Bedroom

The third quarter featured foreign stars. Alex Negrete showed his aggressiveness on the court and scored 10 points, while Dee Bost added 8 more. Shaq Johnson and Markeith Cummings also contributed with baskets. Flamengo was consistent on offense and defense and, for the third consecutive quarter, scored exactly 24 points, limiting their opponent to less than 20. With the score at 24-17 in the quarter, Flamengo was winning 72-47 with 10 minutes remaining in the game.

4st quarter

With a comfortable lead, the final quarter served as a showcase for the young talents promoted by Sergio Hernandez. Daniel Onwenu (8 points), Matheus Gueiros (6), Vitor Cauã (5), and Mané (2) made the most of their playing time and showed personality, maintaining the team's intense pace. Gui Deodato also continued his performance, reaching 30 points in the game, crowning a brilliant performance. With a high offensive volume and total control of the game, Flamengo had its most productive quarter, 29-16, and confirmed its eighth consecutive victory to open the NBB: 101-63.
