Six months after winning the Liga de las Américas, Flamengo took to the court to face the mighty Maccabi Tel Aviv, who arrived at the Club World Cup with a victory over Real Madrid. The Intercontinental Cup trophy would be decided in two matches at the HSBC Arena. In the first match, the Israeli team won by three points (69 to 66), and only a victory by four points or more would take the cup to Gávea.  

With a close game and even scores (15-14; 20-16; 16-16; and 15-23), the Red-Blacks kept hope alive: it was clear that victory was possible. And what wouldn't be possible for a team that has won almost every game of the season, counting all competitions? 

As usual, in the Intercontinental Cup final, the red-and-black team had six players—five on the court and the sixth in the stands. In the opening moments of the match, Maccabi opened up a seven-point lead, but the Nation soon became energized, and amid the familiar synergy between fans and team, the players responded to the encouragement with the ball in their hands. With two consecutive three-pointers from Marquinhos and two consecutive baskets from Meyinsse, the Red-and-Black team quickly took an 11-7 lead. While José Neto's team led by just two points in the first quarter (27-25), in the second, Flamengo closed the quarter at 19-11.

After the break, Maccabi tried to react and won the third period 25 to 18, but in the final quarter, the Most Beloved in the World showed what they were made of and who the home team were, closing the period with a ten-point lead (26 to 16) and guaranteeing the victory and the championship with a convincing 90 to 77 on the scoreboard.
