Councilors vote in favor of pay TV operator contract with red-black basketball team

The Deliberative Council of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo unanimously approved a new sponsorship contract for the basketball team on Thursday night. SKY, the largest high-definition pay-TV operator in Latin America, will partner with the club during the 2010 season, with the option for renewal.
With an investment of R$500, the new sponsor will feature its brand on the training and match uniforms of the professional basketball team and the coaching staff. If the red-and-black quintet wins the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) title, there will be an additional prize of R$150.
"This is another important step we're taking to enhance the Flamengo brand. This new partnership with Sky further strengthens our basketball, which has given us so much joy. Investors like Sky, who believe in the potential of Olympic sports, are what we need to maintain great teams with the Olympic Games in mind," said Flamengo president Patricia Amorim.
This project is part of the strategy to support national sports, initiated by the operator five years ago, with the sponsorship of Stock Car and, subsequently, with the sponsorship of the Pinheiros/SKY volleyball team and the Esporte Clube Pinheiros men's basketball team.
