Gávea kids prepare for the final stage of the 2018 LDB

The final stage of the competition will take place between November 27th and December 02nd

Flamengo takes to the court on November 27th for the final stage of the 2018 Basketball Development League. After a strong showing in the Rio de Janeiro and Curitiba stages, the Crias da Gávea team qualified in second place overall and travels to São Paulo in search of their third national title. At this stage, FlaBasquete is in Group D and faces União Corinthians (RS), São José (SP), and Pinheiros (SP). The top two teams in the group advance to the semifinals, where they will face the top two teams from Group C, which includes Paulistano, Palmeiras, Minas, and Curitiba Basquete.

In all matches against the teams in the group, the Red-Blacks emerged victorious. Now, the Official Website recalls the main highlights of the clashes. 

Their opponent in the opening round of the final stage, União Corinthians, was the last opponent of the Crias da Gávea in the Rio de Janeiro stage. Consistently winning throughout the match, Flamengo won 77-59, cementing their strong campaign. Matheusinho, with 21 points, ten rebounds, and eight assists, was the standout performer of the match. Ruan, with 19 points and 13 rebounds, and João Vitor, with 12 points and 15 rebounds, also had strong performances in the Mais Querido's triumph. 


In the second match, Mengão will take on São José Basketball. The Curitiba match saw another impressive run of dominance for Flamengo, leading from start to finish, earning an 84-58 victory. Center João Vitor led the way with 20 points. With the scoring evenly divided, Felipin (13), Matheusinho (11), Sorriso (11), and Ruan (10) were also crucial offensively, and Flamengo closed the scoring with a significant margin. 


Rounding out the group is a national classic. Flamengo and Pinheiros have a rivalry that speaks volumes. The match, held in Gávea, marked the teams' debut in the 2018 LDB. In a wonderful collective performance, highlighted by a tremendous performance by Thiago Sorriso, who scored 17 points, the Crias defeated the São Paulo team 72-59. Matheusinho (14p, 6ass), João Vitor (11p, 10reb), and Felipin (10p) were among the match's scorers.
