FlaBasquete continues to strengthen a roster prepared to compete for all titles in the 2026/27 season. After announcing important names for the new cycle, the Pride of the Nation gains another significant reinforcement: Luis Montero. With experience in the NBA, a solid international career, and the expertise of representing the Dominican National Team for over a decade, the power forward arrives at Gávea to write a new chapter in his career wearing the Sacred Mantle.

At 33 years old, Montero arrives at Flamengo after playing the last NBB season for Minas. Before landing at Gávea, the power forward returned to play for Cocodrilos de Caracas, a traditional Venezuelan team where he also made his mark on his career. Throughout his career, the Dominican has accumulated experience in different countries, playing for clubs in the United States, Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, and Brazil, in addition to fulfilling his dream of playing for the Portland Trail Blazers and Detroit Pistons in the NBA.

Beyond his club career, the new Flamengo signing has also made his mark on the history of the Dominican National Team. A regular in the national team, Montero has played in the Basketball World Cup, continental tournaments, and international qualifying competitions, establishing himself as one of the leading figures in Dominican basketball in recent years.

Now, the mission is to put all this experience at the service of the Nation's Pride.

"First of all, I want to thank God for the opportunity to be part of Flamengo this season. I am very, very happy to be with the team, to be part of this organization, and also to be with the fans."

Accustomed to facing great challenges throughout his career, Montero arrives motivated to fight for titles and repay the club's trust on the court.

"I am very grateful for this new opportunity that God has given me to defend a club like Flamengo. I hope to give my best, give everything I have, and repay this trust on the court."

Excited to meet the Flamengo fans in person, the power forward made sure to leave one last message for the supporters.

"I'm very happy to arrive and begin this new chapter. Thank you all so much. See you soon."

Luis Montero is another confirmed addition to the Flamengo squad for the 2026/27 season. The Dominican joins the returns of Yago and Didi Louzada, the continued presence of Alexey Borges and Ruan Miranda, and the other reinforcements announced by Flamengo in assembling the team led by Demétrius Ferracciú for the season.
