Flamengo has signed its third reinforcement for the 2018/19 season. 10-year-old power forward David Nesbitt, the NBB 26 champion, is the new FlaBasquete player. A native of the Bahamas, he joins the team after a stint with Paulistano, where he won the Campeonato Paulista and the Novo Basquete Brasil championships. 

 

"After last season, all I want is to keep winning and winning titles. I'm really looking forward to this new challenge at a giant club like Flamengo," says Nesbitt.

A graduate of St. Thomas University in the United States, Nesbitt played in Kazakhstan, Latvia, Iraq, Uruguay, and Argentina before joining the Brazilian basketball team. He played for the Bahamas national team at CentroBasket in 2016, where he averaged 12,4 points and 7 rebounds. 

 

In his debut season in the NBB, he averaged 7,1 points and 6,2 rebounds per game, with an efficiency rating of 12. The player will reunite with coach Gustavo de Conti, who brought him to Brazil, and along with Deryk Ramos, Jhonatan Luz, Marquinhos, Varejão, and João Vitor, he joins the list of players confirmed for the red-and-black squad so far.
