Back at Maracanãzinho, FlaBasquete has broad dominance and beats Corinthians 88-58, in the NBB

Back in Rio de Janeiro for the final games of the NBB qualifying phase, FlaBasquete beat Corinthians, 88-58, on Saturday afternoon (6), at Maracanãzinho. Gabriel Jaú was the highlight of the match with 24 points. With another victory, Rubro-Negro remained in the lead of the national tournament.

The Pride of the Nation returns to play on Monday (8), against Pinheiros, again at home. The match marks the last round of the qualifying phase of the New Basketball Brazil (NBB).

1st Bedroom
The duel between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo began with Corinthians taking a four-point lead. The first points for Corinthians came from Maique, who scored from under the board. Olivinha, on a layup, scored Mengão's eighth point of the game. Well-tuned, Didi made two infiltration plays that resulted in four points. After two free throws converted by Jaú, "Pride of the Nation" tied the score. In the final seconds, Maique converted a three-pointer, giving "Mais Querido" (the Most Beloved) a four-point lead: 23-19.

2st Bedroom
Early in the second quarter, Gui Deodato converted from the perimeter, increasing the Flamengo advantage. Big Maique was on target and hit two more consecutive three-pointers. More consistent on defense and scoring well on offense, the Flamengo team began to control the action. Gabriel Jaú also took advantage of the team's momentum by converting a three-pointer. With the game under control, FlaBasquete went into halftime with a healthy lead: 48-29.

3st Bedroom
Jaú opened the third quarter with a beautiful dunk. The number 9 then scored again, this time with a beautiful alley-oop. He was Mengão's absolute standout at the start of the quarter. Balbi worked the play well in the paint and assisted Maique for two more points. Olivinha, the "God of Race," also had a strong game, scoring points and distributing plays. With a large lead and dominating the match, the Pride of the Nation closed the quarter at 67-37.

In the fourth quarter, Cuello shot a three-pointer, but the ball fell. Felipe Motta, a junior high school prospect, came off the bench and scored his first points of the game. Olivinha received an open ball and converted another three-pointer. In the final minutes, FlaBasquete maintained its momentum, managed to open up an even bigger lead, and closed out the game with another undisputed victory, 88-58.

The Pride of the Nation returns to the court next Monday (8) to face Pinheiros, at 20 pm, at Maracanãzinho, for the last game of the NBB qualifying phase.
