Point guard Gegê remembers that, in addition to the Rubro-Negro's tenth consecutive victory in the championship, revenge is at stake for the negative result against the São Paulo team in the first round of the competition.
"It's a big game. Of the three losses we suffered this first half, one was against Paulistano. We know the importance of this match. In the event of a draw, the head-to-head record helps, and we want to maintain our lead. A home game like this is a game our team enjoys playing. We've been improving at the right time; we should play in front of a full stadium, with a crowd that supports us from start to finish. We hope to go out on the court and give our all to overturn this first half loss," he said.
The match against Paulistano will be Flamengo's first in the NBB after qualifying in first place in the first phase of the Liga das Américas.
"It's a completely different championship from the NBB, a short-term one. Every time we step onto the court wearing the Flamengo jersey, we have to strive for victory. Regardless of the championship, we know our responsibility. This jersey means a lot to us. We played our first part in the LDA and now the focus is solely on the NBB," concluded Gegê.
