With a great collective game, Rubro-Negros win 101 to 73 and tie the semifinal series at 1 to 1

Flamengo fans were apprehensive on Friday night at HSBC Arena. The red-and-black team wasn't threatened at any point by Franca, but they were reminded of what happened in the first game of the series in São Paulo, when the team opened up a 17-point lead only to be defeated in the final quarter. This time, however, Paulo Chupeta's team didn't give it a second thought and, in a stellar performance, crushed Franca and won by almost 30 points: 101 to 73. Marcelinho led the red-and-black team with 21.
The match, despite being controlled by the red-and-blacks from the start, had a very emotional tone. Complaints about the refereeing, technical fouls, and taunts among the players... But within this scenario, Flamengo, with the support of its fans, managed to leave the court victorious, and the players celebrated the result. This Saturday, the two teams play game three of the series at 20:30 pm, also at the HSBC Arena.
"That's how playoff games are. We lost in Franca, we had the opportunity to play at home, with the fans present, and that makes a difference when it comes to getting a result," said Jefferson.

Franca even managed to equalize and even the score at 10-10, but two great plays by Hélio, who converted a beautiful three-pointer and a drive into the paint, gave Flamengo the lead again: 15-10. The São Paulo team also had an unsportsmanlike foul by Fred, but even so, Paulo Chupeta's team won 28-20.
The second period began exactly the same way as the first: with Flamengo determined to win the match. With a strong defense and relying on quick counterattacks, initiated by Fred and Hélio and beautifully finished by Teichmann, the red-and-blacks maintained their lead: 31-22. And with the introduction of Jefferson, who converted four three-pointers, the advantage increased even further. On the final play of the second quarter, Marcelinho converted a long-range shot and sent the team from Gávea to the locker room leading 53-41.
