Demetrius Ferracciu is the new coach of FlaBasquete.

With a winning track record both on and off the court, the coach signs with Flamengo for two seasons.

Flamengo has signed Demétrius Ferracciú to lead the club's basketball team. With a victorious career both on and off the court, the new coach arrives with a two-year contract and the mission of leading the next chapter in the victorious history of the Pride of the Nation.

Demetrius arrives at Gávea after managing Paulistano, bringing with him a track record of significant achievements as both a player and coach, as well as a long history with the Brazilian National Team.

As a player, he built a career marked by titles and participation in major international competitions. He was a six-time Brazilian champion, two-time São Paulo state champion, two-time Rio de Janeiro state champion, three-time champion of the Americas, and runner-up in the Club World Championship. Representing the Brazilian National Team between 1993 and 2003, he competed in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, participated in two editions of the World Championship, and won two Pan American Games titles in Winnipeg and Santo Domingo, in addition to a bronze medal in Mar del Plata.

As a coach, he also has significant achievements. He won two São Paulo State Championships, with Limeira in 2010 and Paulistano in 2023, and was champion of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) with Bauru in the 2016/17 season. A member of the Brazilian National Team's coaching staff, he participated in the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games, the World Championship in Spain in 2014, and recently won the 2025 AmeriCup title as an assistant coach for the national team.

In his first message to the Flamengo fans, Demétrius highlighted his satisfaction at joining the club and his motivation to begin the work.

“It is a great honor to arrive at Flamengo, an institution with a winning history and a passionate fanbase. I arrive with great motivation and I know the responsibility that comes with being part of this project. Alongside my coaching staff and our players, we will work daily to achieve the team's objectives in all competitions.”

The new coach also highlighted the compatibility between his competitive mindset and the club's winning culture.

“I know the challenges that come with a club of Flamengo's stature. Expectations are always high, and that's part of the winning culture within me. I want to help build a winning team that represents Flamengo's values, plays with intensity and dedication, and is always prepared to fight on the court for titles.”

Demetrius also made a point of mentioning the importance of the Nation to the team's success.

"I'm very happy to be able to get closer to the Flamengo fans. The fans' support is one of Flamengo's greatest assets, and I want them to reconnect with our team on the court, encouraging us all the time."

The hiring of Demétrius officially opens a new chapter in the history of FlaBasquete. The first confirmed member of the project for the upcoming seasons, the coach arrives to lead a construction process aimed at placing the Pride of the Nation at the top in all competitions.
