Intense heat and a close-fought match dictated the afternoon basketball action this Saturday (9). Against Minas at Tijuca Tênis Clube, Flamengo fought hard to secure their seventh consecutive victory and managed to do so. With a fantastic performance by Deryk Ramos, Mengo won 82-60 and continues to do very well in Novo Basquete Brasil 11.
The first half was difficult for Flamengo. Misplacing passes and missing crucial baskets, the Red-Blacks saw the visitors begin to pull away, worrying Gustavinho and the fans. The manager called a timeout to try to resolve the issues, but the score remained 21-14 in favor of Minas.
In the second period, Deryk Ramos managed to get his game into gear, making crucial passes and scoring baskets for the Mais Querido. Fighting hard, Flamengo managed to hold off their opponents, going into halftime with a 38-37 lead.
The match remained very even in the third quarter. With Deryk's incredible performance, Flamengo regrouped and began to perform better, emerging from the penultimate quarter with a small but significant four-point lead: 60-54.
The landscape changed in the final period. More comfortable, the Mais Querido adapted its style, took control of the action, and opened up a gap on the scoreboard. From then on, the red-and-blacks simply had to manage the clock until their seventh consecutive victory in the NBB: 82-60.
With the result, the Gávea team reaches 17 wins and four losses in the NBB11, confirming their passage to the quarterfinals of the competition. Flamengo returns to the court next Tuesday (12), at 20 pm, when they face Bauru at Tijuca Tênis Clube.
