Deryk Ramos promises to focus on winning and says: “I want the nation to play together”
Point guard commented on his main characteristics and playing with Gustavinho once again
By Mariana Sa - inVoted best sixth man in the NBB10 and always focused on winning, shooting guard Deryk Ramos arrives at Flamengo with only one goal in mind: to win everything he competes for. With the next season approaching and the new red-and-black cycle, the player joins the reinforcements that will be part of the Pride of the Nation in the fight to return to the top of the national and American leagues.
"I believe things always happen at the right time, and this time is no different. I'm going through a very special phase in my career, and joining Flamengo is an important part of that. I'm very happy and motivated for the upcoming seasons. I can't wait to start training and playing games," said Deryk.

One of the league's top three-point shooters, the player spoke about this skill and what he hopes to bring to Flamengo. "It's definitely a skill I practice a lot, but it's not the only one. Although it's a strong characteristic of my game, I strive to be very well-rounded. I've played every game for my teams over the last five seasons in the Brazilian National Basketball Association (NBB), contributing significantly with three-pointers, but that's not the only thing. The focus will always be on winning," he stated.
Coming from Paulistano alongside Jhonatan Luz and David Nesbitt, as well as coach Gustavo de Conti, Deryk Ramos commented on how much this contributed to his choice for Flamengo. "Having Gustavinho at Flamengo influenced my decision. I had other offers, but I made the best choice in every respect. The chemistry with Gustavinho is great, as well as with Jhonatan and Nesbitt. I'm sure the season will be very good," he said.
Playing against the Nation? Now Deryk wants to play with them all the time. "I'm definitely looking forward to it! Last season, Flamengo vs. Paulistano in Rio was intense, a great game, decided right at the end. I felt the support of the fans, the power they have to play alongside the team. I felt that when they entered the game, the players gained more confidence. I want to have that support soon too, to have the Nation playing alongside us," the point guard assured.
In October, Flamengo will travel to the United States to face the Orlando Magic in the NBA preseason. "I'm sure it will be unforgettable for me. I've never had this experience before, and I believe it will be incredible. We'll work hard to put on a great performance there and absorb all the lessons this game has to offer," Ramos analyzed.
Concluding the exclusive chat with the official website, the player explained what fans can expect from him on the court. "I'm a guy fascinated by Vitória, who trains hard to always improve. And that's how it's been throughout my career; I've been improving a lot by working hard. I really identify with a part of Flamengo's anthem that says 'win, win, win.' That's what I'll always strive for with the Sacred Mantle," Deryk added.
