With the game and the first phase of the NBB now over, Flamengo has fulfilled its mission, finishing in first place and now resting for a few days before starting the playoff competition. With first place in the standings, Flamengo will have the advantage in a possible final of playing the decisive game in Rio de Janeiro, and will only enter the quarterfinals on April 14th against the winner of the match between Vitória and Minas (which could still be Pinheiros). 

For point guard David Cubillan, this break will be essential for the team to recover from the intense pace of the final stages of the qualifying round and come back strong in the next phase in pursuit of their sixth national title, to regain their dominance in Brazilian basketball. 

"We've been preparing for this all season. The team is in good form and has the rhythm to reach the playoffs, which we know will be a very difficult phase. We've improved a lot defensively, the team is much more cohesive. The arrival of Anderson Varejão has strengthened the group. We are more in sync and we're in great shape for the next phase," said the point guard, who scored six points on Tuesday night. 

The team is on break until Monday, when they will resume activities. Before this break, Flamengo faced – and won – two very difficult matches against Basquete Cearense and Vitória. For Cubillán, the defense still needs to improve to avoid surprises. And when the defense is good, the offense also improves.   

"We need to increase our defensive intensity. Against Basquete Cearense, we didn't have our best defense. Today we played with more intensity, and when that happens, the offense also works better. The next phase will be very competitive. Everyone wants to beat Flamengo, and we will be prepared in the best way possible," concluded the Venezuelan player.
