There's a star player staying at Gávea! Gabriel "Jaú" Galvanini will continue wearing the Mantle next year.
The 24-year-old, 2,02'12.6" power forward is having a strong season in the NBB, averaging 7.1 points and 16.2 rebounds per game, while also achieving 2023 efficiency, leading the team in all three. These numbers earned the young standout a spot in the XNUMX All-Star Game and a call-up to the Brazilian national team.
"I'm so happy to have renewed my contract and to be able to defend this Mantle once again. It's a very important jersey for basketball! I'm sure it will be a year of many victories, much happiness, and many titles," said the Pride of the Nation power forward.
The highlight of Gabriel Jaú's last season with Rubro-Negro was the basket with milliseconds remaining on the clock, against UdeC, which guaranteed Mais Querido a place in the Final Four of the Champions League Americas - back in March of this year.
"I've closely followed Jaú's growth at Flamengo. He's made significant tactical progress. He's a golden boy. He plays hard and is the face of Flamengo. He'll be a key player in this squad," added Guilherme Kroll, Flamengo's vice president of Olympic Sports.
At FlaBasquete, Jaú joins the team captain, Olivinha, and center Maique, already guaranteed in the squad for the 23/24 season.
